After much delay we've updated FindMeByIP.com & the Web Designers Browser Support Checklist; the web services that display browser support* for HTML5 and CSS3 in a clear and easy to read format.
The last few months have seen two of the major browser vendors - Mozilla & Opera - release new versions of their web browsers. Modernizr , the javascript library that drives the testing behind FindMeByIP, has also jumped to version 1.1 offering a wealth of new features.
As a result we've relaunched FindMeByIP with better accuracy, a greater number of tests and a larger number of browser results.
What's changed?
The biggest change is probably the upgrade to the latest version of Modernzir, the javascript library that drives the testing behind FindMeByIP. This means we now test for:
- new HTML5 input properties (eg: autocomplete, pattern, step.etc)
- HTML5 Audio and Video codec support
- Mozilla Firefox's new CSS Gradients syntax
...to name just a few.
We've also added test results for two of the world's most modern browsers:
- Opera 10.50 - the "World's fastest browser"
- Firefox 3.6 - the "World’s best browser
99.99% accurate
We're confident that the results produced by FindMeByIP.com are more accurate than ever.
Tweaks to the site's mechanics combined with the much improved Modernizr 1.1 testing library mean that you can be confident that the results you see will be a fair summary of your browsers' support for HTML5 and CSS3. However...
"Nobody's Perfect"
As the old saying goes, "Nobody's perfect" and whilst we've endeavoured to ensure our results are as accurate as possible there might still be a few bugs waiting to be squished.
That's where you come in. Notice a bug? Let us know in a comment and we'll fix it. We want FindMeByIP.com to be bug free as much as you do (we're web designers after all!).
