The new Google Talk Labs Edition is very cute. More of a one-window style of interface. But it's got some prohibitive bugs - like you can't select text, you often can't click links and so forth.
Well here's a quick solution to get you the nice new interface but without the bugs:
- Open (or download and open!) Chrome
- Visit this page: GTalk Browser Edition
- Click the page menu
- Choose "Create Application Shortcuts"
- Add the shortcuts wherever you find useful.
... now you have the new interface ( a flash file effectively ) running in a Chrome app. The interface is the same (afaik) as the Labs Edition but doesn't have all the bugs that the labs edition seems to have.

how to logoff from chat
please let me know how i can log out from the chat. i didn't find any option , sign out option is there but ,when i open the chat application its already showing the logged in session.
